I thought my mother had a drug problem because she drug me to Church / drug me to Sunday School / drug me to Vacation Bible School – but from my combat experience, I walked away from religion / walked away from God. Did things my way and enjoyed success . The Governor of my home state named a day after me as the state’s most highly decorated Vietnam veteran / became a millionaire before it was easy / enjoyed the things and adventures of the ‘good life’ – but there was a problem. All of my accomplishments and possessions were merely temporary distractions and nothing gave me lasting peace or purpose. Just the constant pursuit of ‘bigger’ and ‘better’. Was a walking billboard for PTSD - but my head was so far up my butt I couldn’t see daylight.  You don’t know what you don’t know. Then the greatest adventure began. I’d simply been medicating my pain, shame, fear. Discovered when shit happens - religion doesn’t help - but a personal relationship with Jesus Christ totally changes everything. As my wife Liz and I began to grow together in Christ we started inviting others to the ranch to share what we were and are learning. Therefore The Ranch Ministries has become a place - primarily focused on combat veterans - where real relationships of trust and transparency can be established and folks can go deeper into the issues of life and discover for themselves God’s solutions.
